I’m really bad at remembering to keep a blog. I am really good at having a great time, though… and I am :) always loving my life in the sun. Fiji is definitely my second home now and I love every part of it!

17 Days.

The countdown is on! My flight is purchased, the recruiting is over, tour training starts Monday, first aid training was today and tomorrow. My night so far has been pretty crummy due to one person but I’m trying to not let it get me down. Staying positive and remembering always that I am blessed and soon enough I will be helping people and getting the chance to live my life in a much more positive way! (Not to mention getting a killer tan, what up Vitamin D!)

I still don’t get tumblr. I want to ‘like’ people’s posts but I’m not sure I want to reblog them? Also, I haven’t figured out how to link it to twitter properly. Oh well. Not such a huge loss! I had to write a bio to go on our company website and I felt like such a tool talking about myself. I don’t really have much to say; so pretty much I wrote that I have a degree and I like the sun and shopping, ha! The volunteers are going to think I’m a nut.

This picture above, anyway, is a picture taken of the Yasawa Islands, an archipelago, if you will, that I’ll be spending 4 days out of every fortnight in starting May the 7th! Don’t be hating. :)

All my life I have been referred to as a ‘water baby’. Look at me and it isn’t hard to tell that I love the beach; half the time when you catch me my ankles and feet are covered in sand, my hair is a salty, curly mess and my skin is somewhere between pink and golden brown. Being offered a job where not only do I get to help people to better their lives and situation, I also get to live in a tropical paradise for four months is a blessing and a gift. When things get me down, I just have to remind myself that, ‘It’s all for Fiji.’ Smile, brave it, and thank God that I have been given the opportunity to extract myself from the small town and make a name for myself somewhere in the world. The count down is on for when my life in the sun will truly begin; the anxiety over a day and time to fly not yet being pinpointed is raising with each passing day, and the excitement for meeting new people and making a change grows with each passing minute. I don’t want to forget a single second of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and thus, I have resolved to purchase a travel journal and to chronicle my time through both photographs and words. The best entries I hope to share here, provided that I have both time and internet access. Wish me luck. K
